What
is a web site?
A
Web Site is one or more web pages related to each other.
They usually have some common theme: for a business,
an organization, a family, or some subject matter (like
tennis or playing a violin). The first page is called
the Home Page, which acts like an index, indicating
the content on the site. From the home page, you can
click hyperlinks to access the other web pages in the
site, or even web pages outside of that particular web
site (called external links).

How
difficult is HTML? Can't I just do a web site myself?
The
answer is yes and no. It depends on the complexity of
your web site. There are many software packages available
that will help create a website, as well as tutorials
on HTML. The main question to ask yourself is: do you
have the time to spare learning the tricks of HTML?
There is a lot of trial and error to obtain a professional
looking site, and you may very well choose to bring
in an expert who can create the professional looking
site for you, leaving you time to pursue other necessary
activities.
This
time investment is the main reason that companies or
organizations chooose to have an expert create and/or
maintain their site for them. Since KLB Web Solutions
realizes that some people may prefer to do it themselves
but may not have the resources available initially to
take on such an endeavor, we can work with you and provide
training so we would create the templates and initial
site content, but then work with you so you could be
able to maintain the site on your own.

How
do you choose a web designer?
If
you know you want a site and do not want to create it
yourself, there are different options available. Some
web hosting companies will provide templates for a site,
or have suggestions for web designers. If you see sites
that you like, look at the bottom of the home page of
their web site (often known as the "footer section")
and see if it shows a link to a web designer.
When
you accumulate a few designers, check out their sites
and their portfolio pages. Do you like their work? Can
you navigate the sites easily? Also, most reputable
designers or internet consultants will provide either
testimonals or references who can validate the quality
of their work.
