Newsletters/E-zines
This
type of communication is beginning to be very popular.
Vistors to your organization, either through a website
or through email, can subscribe to your newsletter by
entering their email address. The newsletter or e-zine
is then sent to them via email. The idea behind sending
out weekly or monthly bits of information is to establish
the customer relationship so in the future visitors
will be more willing to use your product or service.
If
you have a website, the goal is to establish repeat
visitors. Just like the flyers in the Sunday paper will
remind potential customers that they need to buy a new
hose, which they suddenly remember when they see in
the Sunday flyer that KMart is having a sale. Having
a newsletter allows a company or organization to notify
others about their particular events. Often companies
will use a newsletter to announce something about their
business such as new products, website updates, contests,
special offers etc. This sort of mailing list would
increase your chance of repeat sales with current customers
and remind your prospects of your existence. If you
have an e-zine which has information of general interest
(i.e. not limited to information about your products)
you have a chance of promoting it extensively, and would
gain general subscribers, which can later turn into
prospects for your business.

Autoresponders
are automated email response systems. Autoresponders
are very important in email marketing. You can use them
so that anyone who sends an email to an autoresponder
will receive an email back to them containing information
about your business or organization. Autoresponders
are used to distribute all kinds of information such
as free articles, sales letters, price lists, product
updates, etc.
The
company then will receive a list of any email address
that requested information from them via the autoresponder.
Follow up inquiries can then be sent back a set number
of days after the initial inquiry. They can be a very
simple but effective tool for sales and marketing of
your company.
